From a position of renowned historical and textual scholarship, Solomon Schecter became the founder on Conservative movement within Judaism. This characterises Judaism as a living organism rather than a strictly fixed entity. It is in process of continuing regeneration, protected by its mainstream impulse against easy fad-following. He stressed the significant agency of good education; schools in his name reiterate that point. Though hesitant, he eventually gave his support to the development of Zionism.
