Historical Who is Who

PETERS, R S

1919 - 2011
England
PHILOSOPHY, SOCIAL SCIENCE

Richard Peters was an English educationalist with an academic background in psychology and political philosophy. His personal history includes birth in India, adolescent tutoring from George Orwell, and work in Friends Ambulance Service during World War II. His approach to issues in the nature of education and curriculum insisted on conceptual clarity, as demonstrated in his Ethics and Education and specifically in his challenge to Kohlberg developmental theory as distinct from learning of moral sentiments.
