Historical Who is Who

MORRIS, William

1834 - 1896

William Morris was a lover of words and craftsmanship which showed in his written work – poems and stories, both his own and his translations of others, especially Classical and Icelandic; architecture and artistic decoration. The moral integrity which characterised all this expressed itself also in his identification with the socialist cause in pursuit of a utopian reality.
