John Stuart Mill’s erudition was eastablished for him by his father (age 3: Greek;age 8 arithmetic and Latin; age 12 Logic; age13 political economy.; age 14 history, law and philosophy; and age 17 full-time office employment. Exposure from then on to Jeremy Bentham established his penchant for Utilitarian thinking which materialised in a succession of influential books, including those on the nature of freedom and on women’s liberation.
