These include ‘focus groups and their use’, ‘role models’, ‘self-fulfilling prophecy’, ‘serendipity’,and ‘standing on the shoulders of giants’. He identified the cultural norms which constitute modern science as universalism, ‘communism’, disinterestedness and organised scepticism.
