Historical Who is Who
MASTERS, William H
1915 - 2001
Gynaecologist, turned sexologist, whose laboratory studies of human sexual responses were initially shocking for their detailed documentation. They raised questions about ‘normality’ in this area, about sexual morality, as also about research ethics. His research collaborator was Virginia Johnson and they built on the survey work previously carried out by Arthur Kinsey. Their primary motivation was therapeutic - to assist people in overcoming sexual dysfunction.
