Historical Who is Who » JABAVU, D D T
Champion of institutional reforms for farming, health and education for the benefit of all South Africans. Denied the opportunity of university study on account of his race, he found this instead in Wales and England. Returning to S Africa he took on an academic teaching position and became a political activist, setting up the All-African National Convention in 1935 in support of Black African enfranchisement. The inspiration for his moral challenge came from his Christian convictions taken on from his newspaper editor father.
