Historical Who is Who
FEUERBACH, Ludwig
1804 - 1872
Germany
PHILOSOPHY, RELIGION
Referred to along with Marx and Kierkegaard as one of the ‘Young Hegelians’, each with his own variant development of Hegel’s own theology. Feuerbach’s emphasis was on religious belief as a magnified projection of natural experience and human sentiments. This is the essence of both Christianity and religions generally. He argues that properly understood religion is anthropology at heart and principally concerned with the moral development of human happiness.
