Digest of terms
these are alternative terms used to describe the process of equipping someone to become a teacher. The 'training' model has the connotation of identifying certain routines into which the prospective teacher will be inducted and habituated. The 'education' model is indicative of the means by which a student teacher her/himself becomes a critical learner - able to interpret the learning needs of pupils and to share curriculum content in ways that will enhance their own critical awareness.
Both elements are probably part of professional development, but, for taking on the responsibilities of effective moral education, the absence or presence of critical awareness is a crucial capacity.
