a rejection of the view in any academic discipline that 'reality' can be understood in and of itself. Instead, 'scientific objectivity' is illusory and in its place we should rely on individual interpretation. All versions of the world are socially constructed by individuals and lack the surety attributed to them in 'Enlightenment' thinking. 'Truth' and 'goodness' are indelibly subjective terms, therefore to make claims for the validity of any inclusive or totalised view is self-deceiving. This radical relativism applies equally in all beliefs and values and challenges any common basis for moral education.
