Digest of terms

moral emotions

there is no definitive list of moral emotions, however the mention of any one of them is a reminder that ethics and moral education include more than logical reasoning. Abhorrence, care, envy, gladness, guilt, joy, love, pride, regret, shame, sorrow, sympathy, thankfulness, all commonly come under this heading. The capacity to understand and evaluate when and why they are felt is an important feature of the attention to heightening of self- and other-awareness in moral education.
